Title: Melanie...
Description: are you looking for a CPK like this?

1u11aby1ambie - April 4, 2005 07:52 AM (GMT)
Would "your" CPK look like this one: CPK - open mouth smile
or this one: CPK - closed mouth smile
or neither?

I think the second pic might be "strawberry blonde" hair, but it always looks "light brown" to me...

I think I love the open-mouth smile one! :D But, Joyce, now that my hair is grown out in a natural state...I believe it's the light brown color! Not technically a brunette, but not even close to as blond as those dolls...you know which one [cpk hair color] I'm talking about! There is one at my Target...she is wearing the blue and sea green outfit...she has light brown hair and blue/grey eyes. She is always there! Her name is kind of cute or has grown on me anyway...it's like Dasnia or something similar. If she would have had that happy face (open-mouth) or freckles (like the cpk with the closed mouth in your link image), I would have bought her already! I tell myself every time I see her that if she's still there next payday, I will buy her. Maybe I should...I think we've grown fond of one another. Or do you think my purchase should be absolute love at first sight?

I had planned to go shopping today anyway...perhaps I'll go to TRU and check out their cpk selection. They are always the same in every store I've been too...they are not selling! At my TRU, they still have both of the Asian ones that they had when I was looking for one for you!

The doll with the open mouth smile (first link) does have freckles... just light ones though...

My Target and Toys R Us just got a new shipment of dolls... I saw Asians with dark brown yarn hair (instead of black)! I was very, very tempted... it was one of the yarn hair styles I like (the little mini braids down the side of her head), and had that new smile I liked and the yellow butterfly dress. I think the only thing that kept me from buying it was that the Target price was back up to $30! I didn't much like her name either... but I'm *still* thinking about her... but I *did* already make another unexpected purchase, so I don't know if I can afford to get her too... Well... that makes 2 Asians yarn CPKs with dark brown hair that I saw & liked!!

As far as CPK love at first sight... I think I didn't know my "perfect" CPK when I first saw her... I gave up the exact same doll I got (same face, same hair) because of the outfit she was wearing. And then spent months looking for her again!! I still regret that I didn't get her!!!! (Even though I have the same one now...)

Anyway, now I notice that most of the dolls I'm attracted at first sight have the same "face" (the closed mouth smile), so maybe you should hold out for your "perfect" CPK... LOL... I guess I'm not help either!

BTW, what "face" did the one you saw have?

berry elvish - April 5, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
I'll try to get a picture of her. I need to balance my check book, but I may buy her tomorrow or Wednesday. I can't remember what her face looks like. The boys and I looked at some at Kmart today and I saw a really cute one with the light brown yarn hair (not the lightest brown either!) and she had a lot of freckles...and a pretty cute face, but her eyes were kind of green grey. I held her next to a couple of dark blondes and asked the boys which one looked most like me and Iian picked the one with the light brown yarn hair, but he said it really didn't look like me because I don't have very many freckles. I don't really, but I have a ton of moles! Anyway, she was cute, but if I'm going to get that color hair, I'd rather get the cpk at Target because she is a cornsilk kid and I always wanted one when I was a kid. The others were nixed because one had really rosey cheeks and Iian asked me if I blushed a lot and I said, I didn't think so, so that one was out. And the other one had a dimple and bright blue eyes. I don't have bright blue eyes, they really are grey blue...so that is a must. I just go on and on, but really I ought to just break down and buy that little girl and wait for the time to come when I can pick my own everything...then I'll get the perfect cpk.

I don't have a perfect face and hair idea though, you know. I just want her to have the right hair color and eye color. And I prefer a really happy face, but I am not sure which one that is!

OH! You *have* to post a pic if you do get her!!! I'm sure the blue/green outfit looks fabulous on her too... I love that outfit on blue/green eye dolls!

You know... when I got my doll, I left her in the box for a little bit, thinking if I *really* wanted a different doll, I could return her. But, then I opened the box "to get a better look" and started hugging her attached to the box. So, I decided I should free her & kept her! I don't regret it at all!! :cpk :cpk :cpk

Joyce, I looked for my cpk at Target yesterday and she wasn't there! I was only slightly disappointed though and I figure it wasn't meant to be. They had some new ones out too, but only brunettes and blondes. :cpk

Awwww... but, I guess you'll find one with freckles!!

I've only seen freckles on 3 different types faces of the cornsilk dolls so far. There was my fave face with the closed mouth/no dimples... that scrunched up smile with the 2 dimples (which I'm growing more fond of now! LOL)-- I see the most of these, and the big open smile but most of those seem to have lots of freckles instead of just a few.

berry elvish - April 12, 2005 06:25 PM (GMT)
Hey, Joyce...is there a known site that has all of the new cpk faces on display? I am not sure what they all look like now. I know I don't like the closed mouth one that doesn't look like a smile at all. I don't even mind the smiles with teeth on the new faces either. I need to ask Christy if she still has that picture of that cpk I sent her...that one had the cutest face!

1u11aby1ambie - April 12, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
Can you see the pictures here? Not all of them are available in Cornsilk. I think #3, 4, 5 (these 3 available with or without freckles-- #5 with lots of freckles), #7, 9, 12 (these 3 unfreckled) from what I remember.

Here is another page, but I think this layout is more confusing! I guessed they are showing how the eyes are different on the new dolls compared to the old.

They have "babies" and I think those are #7, 9, 10 11, 12, 13 with cornsilk hair too, but I don't know if those have freckles. I think you can only order babies on-line, not buy them in stores.

I wonder what face the boy you send Christy had?

Great sites Joyce!
On the first site: PA-11 is my idea of very happy. I love that one. and Pa-12 is good too, even with the dimples and teeth! LOL

I like this one too.

This one is good too.
I like this one too.

So, I'm going to venture a guess and say that I like the open mouth smile with big eyes. Freckles, dimples, sex and teeth are all optional. If I found an open mouth smile with light brown hair and blue/grey eyes I would buy that cpk without hesitation.

1u11aby1ambie - April 12, 2005 09:19 PM (GMT)
Mel! That PA-11 is that face I was talking about when I first saw the new dolls with butterfly outfits! I love it too!!! And I notice that you are picking out most of the dolls they only made in yarn hair! So, looks like you want a #5 or #12 cornsilk. I'll keep those in mind if I look around :) The #12 cornsilk was the same as that Asian doll that I was asking everyone if I should buy!

berry elvish - April 13, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
If there are only two head molds that I like in the cornsilk kids, it might be more difficult to find one that I love than I thought. If I could request eyecolor as well as face and hair on the babyland general hospital site, I'd definitely order from there. It also looks like the hair color I'd have to get is considered brown/brunette! My hair is not really brown but it is definitely darker than the blondes. So, with that in mind, now I will know the right hair color when I see it. I know there was one at Walmart, but my husband said that it didn't look like me at all. LOL It's hair was too dark, but of course, it is never going to match.
These are the colors I would have to choose: In Yarn
Cornsilk Oh, that boy is adorable! I guess even with squinty eyes and a closed mouth, the right hair color and eye color with freckles gets to me! LOL Oh, this is hard.

:P

I love that boy cornsilk! I love that hairstyle on the boys... it's sooo cute! I want an Asian boy in that hairstyle... of course, I don't know what "face" to get either. I think it really depends on when you see the doll... but some times you can see the same doll in different photos and totally like one of the pictures and not the other! LOL

So, I guess you are looking for 'brown' more than a dark blonde? I know the haircolor listed as "strawberry blonde" almost looks like light brown to me every time I see it.

berry elvish - April 14, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
It looks like light brown to me too (strawberry blonde)! I pick it up and then I can see that it is sort of red, which my hair is not, so I put it back. Yeah, in the yarn, there is a light brown/coffee and a dark blonde, but so far in the Cornsilks, the dark blonde is not very dark at all, so I'm going with the brown. I am sure that I will know my CPK when I see her/him. :D

I saw a few Asian boys when they restocked my Target after Christmas, or right before, but they are all gone now. My Walmarts seem to have more AA dolls than anything else...why would they do that? They don't have very many AA versions of any other dolls...I can hardly ever find the 'ethnic' Kelly dolls, not the AA ones but the ones that are supposed to be Latina/o or Hispanic (sorry if I'm not being very P.C. about that, I'm not sure what the proper description is these days). When we buy Barbie's and Kelly's, we look for those because Taigan has brown hair and brown eyes. Anyway, my point is that the AA cpk dolls take up all of the space and they don't seem to be selling. Maybe I should get one of those? I could totally just get the one with the cute curly pigtails...and the cutest outfit and the one who is a Gemini or closest to my birthday. I bet that would be easier to find than a cpk with brown hair, blue/grey eyes and a happy face.
