Title: My Stargate Cake!
berry elvish - April 4, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
With a lot of help from Joyce, I made my husband a Stargate cake for his birthday. He is a huge Stargate SG-1 fan and also likes Stargate: Atlantis. Anyway, I just thought I'd brag a bit, since I am very proud of it. :D

No, Joyce didn't come to visit me, but she knows a lot about cake decorating and I consulted her via message boards and email on how to achieve the Stargate in cake form. :D
It was a lot of fun to make and my husband loved it!

Mel is tooo kind! She did all the work on the cake herself! She did a great job!!! I'm really amazed how it turned out!!! I didn't help her that much at all! Just advised her on how to use fondant!

Awesome cake berry elvish!
I have no patience for things like that. Maybe after I "grow up" some more. :ha

WOW! Melanie, you did a really, really great job!!! It looked sooo great (past tense because I am sure it is nearly gone now, right?? LOL)
Btw...when was Jon's bday? Mike just had his on Friday :D
We ended up going to see Sin City which was a really cool movie :)
berry elvish - April 4, 2005 08:44 PM (GMT)
Jon's birthday is the day before Mike's. :D On March 31st. We usually just have 'family parties' on the actual birthday day...cake and presents with just us. And then there is usually a party or other fun activity on the following weekend, but Jon had lots of work to do at work and home last weekend so we just stuck with the family celebration. :D
Thanks for the compliments on the cake. I did have all sorts of problems and ran out of food coloring marker and had an unfortunate mishap with microwaved frosting, so I'm pretty surprised that Jon even recognized it as the Stargate. LOL But he did and he thought it was the coolest thing! :D
Sin City looks great, Erin. I think we should go see it too. All I can think about lately is Episode III though. ;)

Oh wow! And I just noticed, too, that Jon is one year older than Mike :D
Ep III is going to be great. We are looking forward to it too.
Sin City is definitely worth a look if you are into comics and artistic films (which I know you are) :)

I don't know what happened with your microwaved frosting, but your cake looks fabulous!!! Everyone in class says that no one will notice your mistakes on the final product... I think that's true. Plus I always put my mistakes on the "back" of the cake. :P

Melanie,
That was one amazing cake! Very, very cool. I have a ton of friends that are into the SG series. I have to watch on DVD sometime. I have way too many tv shows on the go to add another. :)
Again, awesome job!
