Title: Pound Puppies

Does anybody remember or know anything about the Pound Puppies or Purries?.
I still have 2 of my vintage 1980s puppies and a 1990s purries somewhere.
Which decade of Pound Puppies do you like better,1980s or 1990s?.

I remember Pound puppies and purries! They are super cute! I still have my pound puppy... but it's not a real, real one... it was a "fast food" version. But, I'll have to say I like the 80's version... I don't think I even know what the 90's version looks like!!

OOo...Perfect post! I was going to let everyone know that there are all new Pound Puppies. I have seen them in Zellers and I have seen an actual commercial recently. They are motion activated, btw, moving their head from side to side and they "bark" :)
To answer your question, Elia, I would have to say I like the vintage...but I also am not too familiar with the versions from the 90s.

I remember wanting a PP for sooo long. Then watching the cartoon on tv. Then FINALLY getting two of the smaller ones. After that I was the happiest kid on the block! (Well until I got way into Smooshies and the cherished PPs went into the toybox :smurfywink )

LOL That was ME too! I wanted one but didn't get one for a long time. I ended up getting a lunchbox that I used for a couple years and then I got a smaller one (white with a patches, and one on one eye - which is funny because that is what my dog now looks like! LOL) I never got a larger sized one though. I ended up getting a handmade one that my aunt made me :)

The 80's ones were better IMHO. But then, I loved the 80's cartoon even more. I wondered why they never made toys of Cooler, Bright Eyes, Nose Marie, Howler, and Whooper..soft stuffed verisons I mean..

That is an interesting point. It would've been good if they made the stuffed versions of the actual characters in the cartoon. :)

Actually they did make plush versions of Cooler and the gang.I've seen both Cooler and Howler on Ebay before. There was also a talking Cooler made in the style of Teddy Ruxpin.I have one around here somewhere.

i like the 80s pound puppies the best i still have the very first one my dad bought me when they first came out. but i didn't like that the ears were sewn down so i cut the thread which was connected from the inside to the mouth that's how the mouth is pushed in. but the puppy is still good ;)

As I type this I have three vintage Pound Puppies headed my way by UPS.One of them is a giant sized one.Anybody remember them? They were like twice the size of the regular large Pound Puppies.I remember seeing them at Freds when I was a kid and wanting one sooo badly. Now I'm gonna have one.
Oh and thanks for the welcome berryblue.I'd love to post pics of Talking Cooler and if I ever get a digital camera I will.I did manage to find him. He's sitting on a shelf in my closet beside my Worlds of Wonder talking Snoopy right now.

 Mary I did the SAME thing. I liked his soft ears, & it was easier to rub them if they were unsewn. :P I vaguely remember the 90s version of PP, but I have a soft spot for the 80s version.
