Title: Old 80's Vinyl Lp's...
Description: How to Clean Them?

berry elvish - March 16, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
Hey fellow children of the 80's...anyone still have or listen to vinyl records? I have a ton, but no working record player at the moment. I found a stack of cool 80's and earlier vinyl at a yard sale yesterday and couldn't pass them up...since the guy gave them to me for free! ^_^ Most of them look to be in good playing condition...er not too many noticeably deep scratches. However, some of them are extremely dirty. I mean, there are varying degrees of filth...from slightly dusty, to moldy to having paper (I'm assuming from the sleeve) stuck in clumps on the actual vinyl. So...anyone got any good cleaning tips? Please? :yoda

There is a webpage with some recipes for cleaning solutions

You might find something useful there.
I'd suggest starting on a record that you don't care if you ruin it! :o
Good luck :carebear

Hmmm, thanks, Amy. I checked out that site and I'll have to try the distilled water, alcohol and dishsoap method, since that seems to be the simplist approach. :D

Awesome. I see why you took them...for free! Can't beat that!
Check out this sitecovers

You can make your own album covers for the ones that need it. It may take a bit of work, but it could be fun. Joey spends a lot of time making our DVD covers and they turn out great...just like from the store.
