Title: Just Dropping In...

ZipperCat - March 12, 2005 05:55 PM (GMT)
...to say HI!

Talk about serendipity! I was searching for info on my fave 80s cartoon characters,
(The really sharp ones among you will have worked out who they are already. ;) ), and came across this place.

It's early days yet, but this could be the start of a beautiful friendship. ^_^

OK, I was told that my last post didn't work because of "flood control" but apparently it DID work.

Yes, I do have quite a bit but unfortunately do not have a camera, yet. It might be possible to scan a few of the flatter items though. :moose

I am always on the lookout, but do all my searching on eBay and in local charity shops/fleamarkets. There's not a lot left to get, that I'm aware of.

Here's the state of play so far.
(N.B. Very sorry, but nothing here is for sale.)

CERAMICS
Coffee Mugs:
Woolma, Dotty and Portia skipping. Caption:"Fun is for sharing!"

PLUSHIES
13 inches:
(Tomy) All six main characters plus Catchum and Leland (fully dressed).

8 inches :
(Tomy) All main characters, fully dressed.

17 inches (approximately):
(Telitoy) Dotty Dog and Montgomery Moose plush PJ cases.

PVC MINIATURES:
(Tomy) All six main characters (both poses), all six secondary characters plus Catchum Crocodile, Leland Lizard and Pocus Possum.

DRESS UP KIDS:
(Tomy) All main characters, fully dressed apart from Zipper who's missing his hoodie and Portia who has a home made sailor suit and no shoes.
WIND UP WHEELIES:
(Tomy) Dotty on roller skates, Montgomery on red wagon.

STICKLES:
(Amtoy) Montgomery, Bingo and Portia. These characters look like they fell under a steamroller! They're flat felt badges with 3D faces and a stiff adhesive backing, although mine aren't sticky any more. Montgomery is still on his card, which has photos of all six main gang members stuck to assorted surfaces.

OTHER TOYS:
(Tomy)Clubhouse Caboose MIB
Hoofnagel's Musical Ice Cream Truck, missing one disc
(House Martin)Wall Clock
(Amtoy) Dotty Dog and Zipper Cat "clip ons",(squeeze their shoulders and their arms open to grasp things.)
(Craft House) Fast Dry Paint By Number. Two pictures, one showing Dotty Dog at her birthday party with Bingo and Woolma and the other showing Montgomery Moose in full on "jock mode" with Dotty cheering him on. Came with a set of brushes and paints, which are now drier than a speech about income tax.
(Waddingtons) Get Along Gang Card Game, Jigsaw Puzzle
(G.C.P.)? (Your guess is as good as mine.) Four black and white posters in a cardboard tube minus crayons and one lid/stopper.

You seem to have a lot of stuff... is that nearly everything that was made? I think the only thing I have is a pink school folder! The picture on the cover is the gang at the soda shop. My mom had bought a bunch of those folders... maybe on clearance... for her own personal use (just to use as file folders)... and I took the pink one for my own use!! I still have it... because I stored a bunch of stuff I wanted to keep in it!

It's difficult to say, there's probably a lot more stuff out there that was made, the problem is finding it. It was once possible to go out, (Note to self; Must do that more often...:)), at least once or twice a week and find something somewhere. Unfortunately, the law of diminishing returns and rising travel costs have put paid to that, for the time being.

Since it looks like they'll be making a comeback, quite soon, it seems like a good idea to let them come to me for a change rather than go haring around after something that may or may not be available.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! These are still the early days of the board too, so I'm sure this friendship will grow into something huge. I'm very glad you joined and I am amazed at your G.A.G. collection! :eyepop
