Title: Old 80s Cartoons
Description: Listen to this list...

Berryblue - September 10, 2004 09:54 PM (GMT)
Recently, a friend of ours acquired an old video filled with 80s cartoons from a coworker for his toddler and OMG! We borrowed the tape and copied it! This is really good! It was marked "Christmas cartoons" so that is mostly what they are but some are just regular episodes.

Listen to what it has on it:

-Smurfs Christmas
-Cabbage Patch Christmas
-Scooby Doo Christmas
-Mickey's Christmas Carol
-Christmas Tree Train (not sure about one?)
-Frosty
-Night Before Christmas
-Raccoons (I think it is a Christmas one, not sure yet)
-Yogi Bear Christmas
-Muppet Babies (a regular episode - they do a spoof on Star Wars in it)
-Rainbow Brite (regular episode)
-Herself the Elf
-Fat Albert (Christmas episode I believe)
-Charlie Brown (New Year's one)
-*various misc. cartoon shorts*

I have yet to actually sit down and watch it all but I did catch bits and pieces while it was taping. We also had to look every half hour or hour to know what was on the tape. lol

Just wanted to share it with you all. I thought it was pretty cool. :)

I want a copy! :D Pretty please. :P j/k That is super awesome. Does it also have commercials or were they edited out? My friend has a vhs full of vintage he-man complete with the commercials. It was a trip to watch. Like spending an hour at x-entertainment. :D

It is funny that you say that! I was planning on giving you one as soon as we get it copied to CD. lol Unfortunately, the people who taped this were very anal about not getting any commercials! I know my mom has a bunch of old tapes full of cartoons w/ commercials that I am dying to get my hands on. LOL
I know what you mean about x-entertainment. Man, you can spend hours at a time just looking through all the stuff there! :)

That is sooo cool! I wonder what I have on tape. I don't think I taped old 80's cartoons since I don't think we had a VCR until later. LOL But we used to record theme songs onto cassette tapes!

That is awesome! I loved Fat Albert! hay-hay-hay! :D

LOL! That's really neat Joyce! Let us know if you find anything interesting :)

I remember loving the Fat Albert cartoon. I specifically remember watching it on Saturday mornings and then eating the Fat Albert cookies (which I remember as being really good animal crackers, lol) on the way to the mall. LOL!! *And that, my friends, is my Fat Albert memory LOL!!*

After you have had a chance to watch it, can you tell us what the "raccoons" thing was about? I think I might remember that....is it actually cartoon animation or are they puppets?

Muppet Babies (a regular episode - they do a spoof on Star Wars in it)

I didn't notice this the first time around! I can't believe that, how non-observant of me. LOL However, here's a bit of synchronicity for you. Jon and I have been talking about Muppet Babies for two weeks. And that star wars episode has been brought up a few times.

I just love it so much. :)

Hey Rebecha,
While we were taping it off of the old tape to our new one, we did tune in every half hour so we'd know what was on there and we did see that the Raccoons Christmas special was an animated version. Did you see one with puppets before?

I *still* have to watch it all and we want to convert it to a cd so it will be playable on the pc. Therefore, Melanie, if we ever get our butt in gear...a copy including that episode will be yours

I *have* to make some time to actually watch AT LEAST the Herself the Elf one! I saw bits of it while taping it and it looks so cool! :elf
