Hmmm, the term Plastic Lace does not ring a bell with me. I remember making key rings and stuff out of strips of plastic at Bible camp when I was a kid...we called them lanyards.

I think we called them Lanyards too. Look up plastic lace or lanyards... you'll probably find what you want! I see little critters and beaded things. Did you already check the book section at your local craft store? (I looked up "lanyard scooby doo" on google and it said it was the same thing)

Well... the first page I saw said this:
QUOTE
Flat Vinyl Lacing for Crafting
Also known as Rexlace, Lanyard, Scooby Doo, Boondoggle

Lanyard is what we called them in Michigan!

Wow. I never made any Lanyards/Scooby Doos. I think I was too busy making potholders, latch hook, and cross-stitching back then.

Oh! You are bringing back memories of my childhood days, Erin! To tell you the truth, I only ever made the lanyard keychain... but I used it for YEARS! :)

ohh! Good digging Joyce!

Hey Erin--I made pot holders too--I had a weaving loom kit--I actually still have it at my -parents...

gotta get that too... ^_^ :wave

Berryblue - February 7, 2005 11:57 PM (GMT)
LOL Joyce, you never tried making a potholder? Omg...I used to do this for HOURS, literally! lol What a fascinating life, eh?

Shell, I had a few different weaving loom kits. lol I used to get wrapped up in all these craft projects... hmmm... I guess I haven't changed too much. LOL

I remember my grandma taught me to cross-stitch when I was around 7 or 8 Ahhh memories...

Erin... I did make potholders out of those fabric "rubber bands" (round stretchy fabric loops)... with a weaving loom! I think they were my potholders for my "play" kitchen.

I think I learned to cross-stitch when I was 12 or 13. But I did a needlepoint project when I was 9. :) The strange thing is that I got that needlepoint craft project as a gift... it was to stitch the top for a unicorn box... and I was very proud of it when I finished! Well, that's not the strange part... the strange part is that I had a friend who wanted a box like I had... but she had her MOM stitch the box for her! The whole point was that I was proud that I made it myself, not that I had a box!

Wow! How cool! I bet that unicorn box was really cute and I totally know what you mean about the sense of accomplishment you get from creating something. I still feel that way about everything I make. :)

And yes, I those stretchy fabric loops! lol I remember my 2nd grade teacher actually have them in the classroom and if you finished all your work you could read, make potholders, or paint! LOL Ahhhh, my dream! :ha
