Title: Any 80s Metal Heads?

Croww - February 3, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
Ok... so some may be a little standoffish with the subject line...

Anyway, I'm still a big fan of big hair and metal groups from the 80s and early 90s.

I'm talking about groups like Alice Cooper, Ozzy, Stryper, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister,
Metallica, Warrant, Skid Row, Slaughter, Gn'R, and of course, my favourite, Iron Maiden.

Just thought I'd throw that out there! :)

Perhaps we could talk alternative and punk music as well...

:music Yep, that would be me. I love the metal...I was weaned on the stuff. I eat metal for breakfast! B) Iron Maiden is the ultimate 80's metal band. I saw them in 1992. :D I used to listen to a lot of punk rock too (naked aggression, a.p.p.l.e., crass, cccp). Music is good.

Thank the rock gods that we are not the only ones stuck in the 80's :music
I live in Windsor, so my husband and I go to a lot of concerts in Detroit. He got me more into Iron Maiden than ever... With the new singer Maiden does a version of Mr. Crowley. The first line is amazing. He just wails out the name "Mr.Crowley". I get goosebumps. I could probably send it to you in an email if you wanted to hear it.

There are a few new bands out that have that sound.
3 Inches of Blood and Avantasia are cool.
Check them out

I swear we have seen Warrant every single time they come around. And Poison. There's a tour called Rock Never Stops and those type of bands come every summer. It's a great time...they are pretty crowded so I guess there are a few Metalheads out there still.

My husband has this friend, we call him Wilbur. He actually wore an Iron Maiden t-shirt to a wedding! He has a brush in his back pocket, too. This gut thinks everything "sucks" if its not hair metal. He is a source of amusement, for sure.

Rock On!
Great topic!!!

Ok, Ok... huge Maiden fan here...
What new singer? I know Bruce rejoined the group after X-Factor, and he's been the vocals on the last two discs.

Let me know,

I didn't mean new NOW. OOPS  Sorry.
I meant not Bruce...the other guy, Blaize or whatever. It is possible that it's not Maiden at all. Where I download songs from...well people have a habit of mislabelling things. But I'm pretty sure it is Maiden with the other guy singing.
It kicks A@# regardless.
And may the rock gods forgive me for upsetting you.

LOL You should've seen him typing the reply to you! I dare say it was frantic!

And I just have to add that I love Alice Cooper :)

So, anyone listen to 'new' metal? Non-American bands? I'm currently listenting to Nightwish...gearing up for the Dragon*Con. :D

purplestar - February 5, 2005 05:02 AM (GMT)
My husband is into Nightwish too. "I Wish I had an Angel" is the only song that I know, but I like it. The mix of the chick's voice and heavy music is great.

And I made a huge mistake :o ...the Mr.Crowley cover is by Judas Priest with Ripper Owens singing. It is still awesome even though it's not Maiden. Also Ripper now sings for Iced Earth.
