Title: I Love Cheese!

Shellberry Shortcake - January 31, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
I do-I LOVE cheese!

I think cheese makes ANYTHING taste better & worth eating, lol--it's insane I can eat a whole pack of cheese in 2 days....

I love it melted..I love toasted cheeses...I even wrap pretzels in cheese and eat them, lol

no-I'm not nuts...I just love cheese!

do you? :wave

Unfortunately, I don't like cheese that much. I try to avoid anything with too much cheese in it! I do like mozarella, cream cheese, cottage cheese, etc. I'm just careful with stuff like swiss, cheddar, parmesean and american! It really depends on what it is & how it's used. I had a bad experience in high school and have been turned off of cheese since then!! :eww

One time I ordered a sub from Arby's... and asked for the cheese "on the side"... because my friend wanted my cheese for his sub. Well, I confused them so much... they made my sandwich fine, but completely forgot to make my friend his!

:ha Your poor friend! LOL!!
It really doesn't take too much to confuse some of them, does it?

I love cheese too! Cheese is actually what helped me along when I first started changing my diet. I always keep a container of shredded part skim mozzarella in the fridge so I have it whenever I want it.

And I have loved cheese since I was LITTLE! I can remember eating sharp cheese when I was JUST old enough to have teeth.

Oh and here's a good story on how much I love cheese:
I was 4 or 5 (in kindergarten...I went in the AM so I just came home). My mom ended up having a problem with her contacts and couldn't see and was in bed so my grandma (who lived next door) was on her way over to watch me.

So what happened was I went upstairs and asked my mom if I could have some cheese. She said no because I couldn't cut it myself and I had to wait for grandma. Then, I went downstairs and thought about a way I could cut the cheese without using something sharp. My mom always kept my watercolor brushes behind the sink and thought the handle of it would work just fine! My grandma walked in alarmed thinking that I was cutting with a knife and then she saw I was using the end of my paintbrush! LOL!!
:ha

So yes...I love cheese! :love

I love cheese too, it was one of the hardest things for me to cut down over the years. I am trying not to eat a lot of it and have been using soy substitutes and fat free shreds, but only in small quantities. It's so hard to not put bunches of cheese on everything!

You know what else I really love...NUTS! I mean it, any kind...I had to break my 2 cups of sunflower seeds a day habit when I went on weight watchers. :( But, we're getting a small nut tree orchard this spring and I've decided that when they start producing nuts, I will eat them when they are in season. No matter the points!!

LOL!!! Erin!! That is such a cute story! I was almost expecting that you liked cheese so much, you decided the cheese didn't need to be cut and you ate the whole thing!

When I first read the topis title, I thought " It can't be about cheese that you eat , so she must mean cheese as in cheesy as in something corny but likeable.
So I see it really is about actual cheese!
OK, I also love cheese. Any kind that I've tried so far, cream, slices, blocks, crumbles. It's all good. I have not had limburger or a really old blue yet. I'm not sure I could handle those!
Do you get those little round cheeses that are covered in red wax? Yummy.
How about the cheeses that have herbs, like dill, added? Also yummy. Good for appetizers at a party.
And a great snack for my daughter is the string cheese. And for me, too.
I buy real parmesan to grate on pasta. It's more expensive but worth it. I like to think of myself as a good cook and cheese is always on the shopping list.
And nuts...I will give you all my special recipe for nuts:

Spicy Sugared Nuts
This is not a very scientific recipe, just approximate amounts that can be adjusted.

A few cups (3 or 4) of mixed nuts, or your fave kind
1 egg white
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon red pepper
1 tablespoon cinnamon

1. Beat egg white in a large bowl with a fork until its a little foamy
2. Add nuts and toss until coated
3. Add sugar and spices and mix well
4. In a 300-350 degree oven, bake for 10 mins on a cookie sheet
5. Stir them around and return to oven for 10 mins
6. Keep stirring and baking until the coating is not soggy, around 30-40 mins total
7. Let cool a bit before you try them....when cooled store in an airtight container for up to 2 or 3 weeks.

This will make your whole house smell yummy. My hubby begs for these and for some strange reason I only make them at Christmas. Time to change that!
Enjoy ^_^

Nuts are SO good for you! They actually add years to your life...if you read anything about Real Age. They are a healthy fat so I try to incorporate them into my diet.

Thanks for that recipe, purplestar! I think I'll try but since I don't use refined sugar, I'll try stevia or splenda. Oh I bet it will be a yummy alternative to plain ole' nuts. :D

Thanks again!! :wave
