This may seem like a loaded question, and there might not be an answer, but really, I don't know what else to do.
Anyway, let me give you the background. Back in 1984, my parents recorded a tape for me and my sister. The tape had Get Along Gang, Care Bears, Charmkins, My Little Pony, and Strawberry Shortcake cartoons on it. Sis and I watched the tape so much, it wore out, and we started calling it the Bit the Dust Tape. We finally threw the tape away in 1990, because it was beyond repair.
Now, I'm wracking my brains out trying to find out what the tape brand was! I've looked all over Google, I've asked on other message boards I belong to, and I've even looked on Ebay! No luck anywhere. All I know is that the tape was recorded in 1984, and the sleeve was either gray or silverish, and there was this silverish circle thingy on the front cover. My sister thinks it was a Maxell, but I don't know.
What I really need is a picture of any old tape sleeves from recordable tapes from 1984. It's driving me absolutely crazy!
Have you already tried a google image search for "vhs tapes" or "vcr tapes"? I tried searching and JVC has like circly images on the cover, but I think those might be current box covers, not old ones.
But, your description does remind me of like Scotch/Sony(?) tapes maybe?? I thought that was the kind we used. Or like TMax (was there such a brand? I want to say T-fal, but I know that's not right, maybe it was TMAX printed on a Scotch/Sony box). LOL It might even be Maxwell... they all sound familiar.

Yep, I Googled these. Like I said, you wouldn't think it'd be this hard looking for one image of an old 1984 blank tape sleeve!
