Title: Laser Disks

While I was just talking about Mom and Pop video stores,I just thought about Laser Disks. They were the giant version of the DVDs.When Video Max used to be open,my family would always rent movies on Laser Disks.I used to own a Laser Disk player when I was younger. When my parents went to the Philippines (circa 2000) they were still using Laser Disks as at the time,DVDs were lukewarm and we already ditched our Laser Disk player.
Does anyone on this board remembers the Laser Disks?

My friend had a laser disk player. We never had one, and it was pretty short-lived!

YEP! We had more than one laser disk player and actually...my dad still has one and uses it to this day. I think they may still make them...not sure though. I used to hate it when they'd skip...lol If you always fast forwarded a certain part on the disk, the player would sort of "remember" it and skip it automatically, sometimes skipping around even more than that... So basically, it was a bad idea to always skip one particular spot because it would mess of the disk. *sigh* Good post Rollchan! :D

I remember them, but we didn't have one. I hear that their quality is still unparrallelled by anything currently on the market. :D

we didn't have one, but my neighbor did. They were big, like records! they were supposed to replace VCRs and be the next "big thing"... guess they were too big. DVDs are real similar to the laser disk, just not as big. I always thought my neighbor was cool cause she had one though. :ernie
