Title: Dream Dancer Doll
Description: I need help on this!!!!
geatornez82 - March 30, 2006 02:23 AM (GMT)
Does anybody have any info on this doll from the 80's, Dream Dancer? I never had the doll when I was a kid, but I did have a commercial for it on an old Get Along Gang tape (the tape bit the dust, and I no longer have the tape, but I would love to see that Dream Dancer commercial again!)
Does anybody have any info on this doll? Who made it? And does anyone have any pics? I read a thread about her somewhere on here, but now I can't find it! Someone help!
EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. There are some stuff I remember from the commercial. The doll came on a stand of some kind, and when you pushed a button, she danced. She was blonde, and came with two outfits: a purple leotard and a pink tutu.

:grover Good News!! I use to have one and there is a thread about it in here. :) :carebear I was searching for the name a while back and the guys in here helped me out. She had a pink leotard and also came with a purple sweatband and sweatshirt. They had one on ebay last week, but she was missing the sweats so I didn't bid on her. :ugh She was made by Tomy and they also had one called Dream Skater which was an ice skater on a stand which I have found on ebay as well. Hope this helped!

I found the thread. Thanks a lot! My sister remembered her right after I showed her the pictures of the box in the thread. At least of her in her sweats. She didn't remember the tutu look too well, though, but she said she DID remember.
Like I said, I never had the doll (I wasn't much of a doll person back then). I just remember the commercial, and I wish I still had it.

I just found the thread in the other forum. I just wanted a picture to show my sister. Now if I can only find the commercial, I'll be a happy camper.

Sorry to bring this up, but I just got a Dream Dancer doll in the mail on Saturday. She's still in working condition, but there are a couple of things that are bugging me about her. She came with her original instructions, but they're a bit . . . . vague, let's say. I've put her on her stage, but she doesn't move very much when you push the "Poses" button, and there really isn't that much of a difference when you push the "Twirl" and "Ballet" buttons. I also noticed that when you move one arm, the other one moves simultaneously unless you hold the other one down.
Also, how the heck do you put her hair up? I tried to do it with a rubber band, but there's gotta be a technique to make it look a lot nicer than I had done it. Anybody have any tips or something?

Yeah, I found her on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.

:elf I can tell you that both of her arms are supposed to move simultaneously. That is one of the features that works with her whenever you push one of the buttons and she does the specific ballet moves. :carebear

:thx childofthe80s! Is there a specific way to put her on the stand? She doesn't change positions too much when I push the Pose button, or the Ballet button.

:ssc The only thing I remember is that she had a hole at the bottom of one of her ballet toes. :cookie It could be something inside the platform that is malfunctioning and/or it could be bad batteries or the batteries may not be making a good connection. Other that those things...I do not know :( I am sorry I don't have a good answer. Good Luck with getting her to move. :D

Well, I haven't figured anything out much. I came up with a little something though. I took her off the stand, posed her a bit, and stuck her back on. Then I turned her on and watched her spin for awhile. Then I turned her off, reposed her, and turned her on again.
I might wear the batteries out faster that way, but it's more fun this way. I'm still trying to figure out two more things. One is how the heck to get her hair up without it looking like a rat's nest. Two how to get her sweatshirt off without popping her arm off. There's no velcro fasteners on the back like Barbie clothes. The first time I tried to put it on, I tried to go the feet first route. That didn't work, so I tried to get it on over her head. That didn't work out so well, either. Her right arm kept popping off. I finally said to my self "Okay, I'm just going to leave her arm off while I figure out how to get this shirt on." So I was able to get her sweat shirt on and off over her head if I took off her one arm, but it was easy enough to get back on. Funny thing, though, her other arm doesn't pop off as easily. I'm not going to try and force it, I might end up breaking it.

Just an observation on this. I figure I'd add onto this thread as opposed to clogging the forum with a new thread.
Anyway, I like to surf Ebay for items I already have, just to see what comes up. I've seen Dream Dancer pop up every now and again, and every time she does, she comes with her box! Interesting.
As a side note, I FINALLY FOUND THE DREAM DANCER COMMERCIAL! YAAAAY! It was on YouTube in a block with the commercial for the Rose Petal Place cottage and Care Bears Professor Coldheart Posable. Whoo hoo! You should have seen me last night! I was screaming out "YES! YES! YES!" In case you can't tell, I was (and still am) berry excited that I found it!
